Week 3: Training and Review
Day 21: Week 3 Review
Goal
Summarize why SignLLM work takes many hours.
Learn
- The slow part is not only model training. It is capture, cleanup, annotation, inspection, correction, retraining, and evaluation.
- A responsible pipeline treats review notes as part of the data, not as afterthoughts.
- The more public or high-impact the system is, the more review it needs before anyone relies on it.
Example
- A single accepted sample may require consent check, clip trim, pose extraction, gloss review, visual QA, metadata update, split assignment, and later evaluation.
- That is why a small honest prototype can take serious time.
Practice
- Write a short paragraph titled Why this is hard.
- Mention at least four kinds of human work behind the model.
Checkpoint
Before moving on
You can explain the human labor behind sign-language AI in a public, honest way.
Deaf-first note
Deaf-first note
Do not erase the people doing language, consent, review, and correction work. They are part of the system quality.
