Week 2: Everyday Use

Day 13: Privacy and Sensitive Data

Day 13 of 2815 minGoal - Learn - Example - Practice - Checkpoint

Goal

Protect personal, business, and confidential information.

Learn

Before pasting information into an AI tool, ask: who runs this tool, what data policy applies, can training use this data, is it regulated, and would exposure harm someone? Avoid sharing passwords, API keys, private legal/medical/financial records, or confidential business data unless the platform is approved for that use.

Behind the scenes
AI tools are products wrapped around models, data, prompts, retrieval, safety systems, and user interfaces. The better you understand the wrapper, the better your results get.

Example

A public support chatbot is not the right place for passwords, client records, or private legal documents.

Practice

Create a red/yellow/green list of data types: safe to paste, needs caution, never paste.

Checkpoint

Checkpoint
You can decide what should not go into a public AI chat.
